Boren Awards are funded by the National Security Education Program and provide U.S. undergraduate and graduate students with up to $25,000 to study critical languages abroad for 6-12 months. The countries of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded. In exchange for funding, Boren Scholars and Fellows commit to a year of government service after graduation.
